Quinoa Recipes from the Blogosphere
Last time, I gave my general top 5 tips for cooking with quinoa, and I promised that I’d survey the blogosphere for a few tasty quinoa treats. Here’s a glimpse at what people are eating:
Breakfast
Karina’s Quinoa Breakfast Cake is rich but wholesome. Muffins, schmuffins…perhaps this is just the thing for a weekend breakfast!
Salads
Fatfree Vegan Kitchen, who sometimes but not always blogs gluten-free, gives a recipe for International Quinoa Salad. I’ve made a similar dish for lunch–it’s delicious and it stays with you for hours.
Don’t forget to try red quinoa, too. It tastes nuttier and stronger than white quinoa, but is still good. Tea and Cookies offers up a Red Quinoa Salad .
Main dishes
Gluten-Free Blog has a recipe for Gluten-Free Garlic, Pepper, and Herb Quinoa . It looks basic but yummy–a winning lunch combination.
Gluten-Free in the Greens (caveat: that’s my personal blog) developed a Quinoa Pizza Crust recipe. Weird though it may sound, it’s actually very tasty and great for when you don’t have your gluten-free flour stash.
Desserts
My own Quinoa-Almond Butter Cookies. Also try Book of Yum’s Monster Gluten-Free Quinoa Peanut Butter Cookies for a more intense nut butter taste.
